Organization
What is ACA?
The Association of Chinese Americans (ACA) is an organziation geared towards four different yet related aspects: social, cultural, political, and community service. As an organization, we strive to educate our members, consisting of a wide range of nationalities, about the cultural conflict that many of us students face in possessing a Chinese background but living in America. Through the various events we hold over the year, we hope to encourage the sharing of experiences amongst the members and staffers while trying to define this Chinese American culture. ACA provides socials during which members can get to know each other, hosts cultural events which we expose our members to different parts of our culture, organizes community service events which benefit both the UCLA and LA community, and promotes talk on contemporary issues facing both the Chinese American and Asian/Pacific Islander community. What's the purpose of ACA? The Association of Chinese Americans is a student group involved in cultural, social, community, and political projects, which benefit its members, its campus, and its community. Its programs are primarily geared toward the unique multi-cultural identity of Chinese Americans striving to understand their heritage, history, and experiences. The goal of the Association of Chinese Americans is to educate and raise awareness about Chinese American biculturality. What are ACA families? Because ACA is just a large organization, we hope to create a more personal setting for the members by grouping them into smaller numbers. Each group is headed by a staffer and a spouse. As a family, staffers will take members on Family Nights several times throughout the year, which may entail dinners, bowling, and other sorts of activities. Having this family makes the organization seem more personal and allows members to develop strong bonds amongst each other. How can I get more involved with ACA? Besides regularly attending ACA events and general meetings, you can actually help with the planning aspect! Our culture night production (CACN) has a committee system with which members can familiarize themselves with planning and running a theatrical production.

Website
What's on the website? The website has all the latest announcements from ACA as well as an up-to-date calendar of our events and athletic games. Members can also check which family they are in. The website has other interesting reads, including information on CACN and ACA staff. The website also features the new ACA Netwrok, detailed below, and has a history of all the previous ACA staffs. Lastly, the website has links to many of ACA's affiliates, both on and off campus. What is MyACA? MyACA is an endeavor to link ACA and Facebook. Currently, the only functionality is if an event is linked on this website to Facebook, users can use the acabruins application wiht the calendar to see their status on an event. This feature may expand in the future, so if you hav any suggestions, forward your ideas to webmaster@acabruins.org. (Note: The application does not pull your information for any other use.) What is the ACA Network? Many times, ACA alumni have great opportunities for college students and recent graduates. Yet, in the past, lines of communication between ACA alumni and current ACA members have been nearly nonexistent. The ACA Network seek to remedy this situation, as ACA members both past and current, can post opportunities for other members on the site. May it be full-time or internship job opportunities to open apartments and the like, the ACA Network will allow the facilitation of such communication. How can I contact the webmaster?
